EXHIBITION

A three week exhibition showcasing the 25 most interesting fashion designers, accessory designers, illustrators and photographers from Helsinki. Exhibition opening takes place 14.6. and lasts until the Fashion Week of Berlin ending on 8.7.2012.

The aim of the exhibition is to create a platform for Finnish designers, illustrators and photographers to show their work in one of the most fast growing art and design capitals of Europe and to create future collaboration possibilities in the field of cultural exchange between Helsinki and Berlin.

The exhibition also works as a taste of what is happening in Helsinki during this exiting year and hopefully will create curiosity for tourism. The target of this happening is not only the creation of links between designers and investors, but especially to bring the design closer to everyday people and everyday life, which is the core soul of Finnish design.

The timing of the exhibition is planned for the most interesting month of design in Berlin, grouping design and fashion into one event.

Helsinki Fresh Grand Opening, Thursday 14.6.2012 @ Direktorenhaus

The Helsinki Fresh Grand opening starts at 9pm with musical performances organized by Kaiku Studios, with the possibility of meeting the designers and the organizers of the show. The bar will be open until 1am.

Finnish Midsummer, Friday 22.6.2012 @ Direktorenhaus

The midsummer or the summer solstice is celebrated in Finland on a Saturday between 20th and 26th of June. Traditionally bonfires were lit to protect against evil spirits which were believed to roam freely when the sun was turning southwards again. Nowadays rituals include bonfires, cookouts, a sauna and spending time together. Heavy drinking is also associated with the Finnish midsummer.

We will celebrate the midsummer at the Direktorenhaus of Friday 22th of June in honor of this tradition with music, drinks, food and a Sauna. It is also a perfect way to recover from the Fête de la Musique of Berlin held the previous day.

CD6 Workshop, Thursday 28.6.2012 @ Direktorenhaus

CD6 (Conceptual Design in 6 hours) is a new conceptual design workshop
that aims to bring artist and designers together for brainstorming and
producing new work and kick-starting new projects. The CD6 workshop is
based on the famous PD6 (Product Development in 6 hours).

The workshop is for experienced to novice designers and artists, and
also participants who may not know anything about creation itself but
know specific tools or crafts used by design.

The concept of this workshop is producing work in small groups on a
given subject and with the time limit of 6 hours and collecting a
feedback from the participants afterwards.

During the six hour workshop, every creative team will go through the
process from an idea to a concept. The teams work intensively during the
day and will receive tutoring from the facilitators. In the end of the
day, each team presents their ideas and teams also get to evaluate each
other.

The results of the workshop will be presented in Helsinki and Berlin in
end of July.

CD6 ( Conceptual Design in 6 Stunden) ist ein neuer konzeptueller Design
Workshop, der Künstler und Designer zum Brainstorming zusammenbringen
will, um neue Werke zu produzieren und neue Projekte in Gang zu bringen.

Der CD6- Workshop basiert auf dem bekannten PD6 ( Product Development in
6 Stunden)-Konzept.

Der Workshop richtet sich an erfahrene und unerfahrene Designer. Auch
Teilnehmer, die überhaupt nichts über die kreativen Prozesse wissen,
aber bestimmte Werkzeuge kennen oder andere Fähigkeiten haben, die in
Design appliziert werden können, sind herzlich willkommen.

Das Konzept dieses Workshops ist, Werke in kleinen Gruppen zu
produzieren zu einem Thema in 6 Stunden. Feedback wird am Ende des
Workshops gesammelt.

Während des sechsstündigen Workshops geht jede kreative Gruppe die
Prozesse von der Idee bis zum Konzept durch. Die Gruppen arbeiten den
ganzen Tag und bekommen Instruktionen von den Organisatoren. Am Ende des
Workshops präsentiert jede Gruppe ihre Ideen.

Die Ergebnisse dieses Workshops werden im Juli in Helsinki und in Berlin
präsentiert.

So how to participate?

1. Sign up per e-mail to cd6workshop@gmail.com with your name and creative field
2. Come to Direktorenhaus (see map link) at 11am
3. Bring along your creative tool (computer, paper, camera, paint, make-up, brain, pencils, fabric, string, tools, etc…)

We will divide you into small groups in the beginning, provide you with basic materials of brainstorming and give you a theme on what to work on freely within your group depending on the creative tools you bring!

15.00 Lunch brake (food and soft drinks are provided by the organization)

All works will be documented and presented in the end of the Helsinki
Fresh Exhibition in Berlin, and in the beginning of August in Helsinki.

The workshop is free of charge for all and held in English.
